Reach out for the light – Avantasia

Reach out for the light (Cerca la luce) è la traccia che apre, dopo un breve intro, il primo album degli Avantasia, The Metal Opera part 1, pubblicato il 22 gennaio del 2001. Il personaggio principale della storia è il giovane Gabriel Laymann (Tobias Sammet), novizio dell’ordine domenicano nell’abbazia di Magonza. È l’anno 1602 e, insieme al resto dell’ordine, Gabriel prende parte alla caccia alle streghe. Ma quando si riunisce inaspettatamente alla sua sorella acquisita Anna Held (Sharon den Adel), mentre questa sta aspettando di essere giudicata come strega, Gabriel comincia ad avere dei dubbi. Si introduce furtivamente nella libreria, dove legge un libro (Malleus Maleficarum). Il suo mentore Bruder Jakob (David DeFeis) lo scopre, e Gabriel viene gettato nei sotterranei dove incontra un vecchio, Lugaid Vandroiu. La voce del vecchio druido Lugaid Vandroiy è dell’ex Helloween Michael Kiske.
