Creek Mary’s blood
Soon I will be here no more
You’ll hear the tale
Through my blood
Through my people
And the eagle’s cry
The bear within
will never lay to rest
Wandering on Horizon Road
Following the trail of tears
White man came
Saw the blessed land
We cared, you took
You fought, we lost
Not the war but an unfair fight
Sceneries painted beautiful in blood
Wandering on Horizon Road
Following the trail of tears
Once we were here
Where we have lived
since the world began
Since time itself gave us this land
Our souls will join again the wild
Our home in peace ‘n war ‘n death
Wandering on Horizon Road
Following the trail of tears
Once we were here
Where we have lived
since the world began
Since time itself gave us this land
[Poem in Lakotan:]
"I still dream every night
Of them wolves, them mustangs,
those endless prairies
The restless winds over mountaintops
The unspoilt frontier
of my kith n’kin
The hallowed land of the Great Spirit
I still believe
In every night
In every day
I am like the caribou
And you like the wolves
that make me stronger
We never owed you anything
Our only debt is
one life for our Mother
It was a good day
to chant this song
For Her
Our spirit was here long before you
Long before us
And long will it be after
your pride brings you
to your end"
Sangue di Creek Mary
Presto io non sarò più qui
Sentirai questa storia
Attraverso il mio sangue
Attraverso la mia gente
E il pianto dell’aquila
L’orso dentro di me
non si sdraierà mai per riposare
Camminando sulla Strada per l’Orizzonte
Seguendo la scia delle lacrime
L’uomo bianco venne
Vide la terra benedetta
Noi ci tenevamo, voi la prendeste
Tu combattesti, noi perdemmo
Non una guerra, ma una battaglia sleale
Paesaggi dipinti magnificamente con il sangue
Camminando sulla Strada per l’Orizzonte
Seguendo la scia delle lacrime
Un tempo noi eravamo qui
Dove abbiamo sempre vissuto
sin dall’inizio del mondo
Dal tempo in cui lui stesso ci diede questa terra
Le nostre anime incontreranno di nuovo la natura
La nostra casa nella pace, guerra e nella morte
Camminando sulla Strada per l’Orizzonte
Seguendo la scia delle lacrime
Un tempo noi eravamo qui
Dove abbiamo sempre vissuto
sin dall’inizio del mondo
Dal tempo in cui lui stesso ci diede questa terra
[Poema in lingua lakotan]
"Continuo a sognare tutte le notti
I lupi, i bisonti,
le infinite praterie
I venti agitati sopra le cime delle montagne
La frontiera incontaminata
dei mie amici e parenti
La terra consacrata al Grande Spirito
Continuo a credere
In ogni notte
In ogni giorno
Io sono come il caribù
E voi come i lupi
che mi fanno più forte
Noi non vi abbiamo mai dovuto niente
Il nostro unico debito
è una vita per nostra Madre
È stato un buon giorno
per cantare questa canzone
Per Lei
Il nostro spirito era qui da tempo prima di voi
Prima di noi
E a lungo sarà dopo
che il vostro orgoglio vi porterà
alla vostra fine"
