The weapon they fear – Heaven Shall Burn

The weapon they fear (L’arma ch’essi temono) è la traccia che apre, dopo l’intro Echoes, il terzo album degli Heaven Shall Burn, Antigone, pubblicato il 26 aprile del 2004. Il brano è una dedica a Victor Jara, cantautore e poeta cileno, che venne assassinato il 16 settembre del 1973 dal generale Augusto Pinochet, dittatore del Cile dal 1973 al 1990, per i suoi ideali democratico-socialisti e anti-autoritaristici. Fu sostenitore di Salvador Allende, ex presidente del Cile, e uno dei simboli della contestazione giovanile. [♫ video ufficiale ♫]

Testo tradotto di The weapon they fear (Weichert) degli Heaven Shall Burn [Century]

The weapon they fear

Words,
these words of freedom,
a bequest
never to be silenced.

A bequest,
never to be silenced.
Silenced!

In this world of lies,
the truth,
it means resistance,
to make the masses see
and sense their needs.

He healed so many aching hearts
and wounds,
and threw back the baseness,
back,
to where it came from.

Aspired from the middle
of his brothers.
Charged this suffering
and oppression.

One single voice became a storm.
His words and melodies,
the weapon they fear.
The weapon they fear.

Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.
Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.
From where it came.

Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.
Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.

Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.
Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.

A bequest
never to be silenced.

Nobody’s chosen to suffer.
Nobody’s destined to rule.

Gagged his mouth
but not his songs,
the songs we sing.
Fettered his hands,
But not,
not these words he wrote.

These songs we’ll sing.
These songs we’ll sing.

Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.
Threw back the baseness,
back,
from where it came.

L’arma ch’essi temono

Parole,
queste parole di libertà,
un testamento
che mai dovrà esser taciuto.

Un testamento
che mai dovrà esser taciuto.
Taciuto.

In questo mondo di menzogne,
la verità,
essa è sinonimo di resistenza,
con cui permettere alle masse di vedere
e di percepire i loro bisogni.

Costui guarì così tanti cuori in pena
e così tante ferite,
e gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
fin da dov’essa proveniva.

Ambizioso in mezzo
ai suoi fratelli.
Mutò questo strazio
e quest’oppressione.

Una sola singola voce divenne una bufera.
Le sue parole e melodie,
l’arma ch’essi temono.
L’arma ch’essi temono.

Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.
Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.
Da dov’essa proveniva.

Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.
Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.

Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.
Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.

Un testamento
che mai dovrà esser taciuto.

Nessuno è stato scelto per soffrire.
Nessuno è stato destinato per dominare.

Imbavagliata la sua bocca,
ma non i suoi canti,
quei canti che noi intoniamo.
Incatenate le sue mani,
ma non,
non quelle stesse parole ch’ha scritto.

Questi canti noi intoneremo.
Questi canti noi intoneremo.

Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.
Gettò indietro ogni bassezza,
indietro,
da dov’essa proveniva.
