The last battle – Sabaton

The last battle (L’ultima battaglia) è la traccia numero undici dell’ottavo album dei Sabaton, The Last Stand, pubblicato il 19 agosto del 2016. Il brano parla della battaglia per il Castello di Itter combattuta in Austria negli ultimi giorni della seconda guerra mondiale. Il 23° battaglio corazzato statunitense comandato dal tenente John C. “Jack” Lee Jr, insieme a soldati anti-nazisti della Wermacht comandati da Josef Gangl e francesi prigionieri nel castello si trovarono a combattere dalla stessa parte contro la 17ª Divisione Panzer Grenadier delle Waffen-SS. Questa battaglia è conosciuta anche come la più strana della seconda guerra mondiale, essendo stata l’unica in cui americani e tedeschi si ritrovarono a combattere come alleati durante la guerra.
